Istanbul Economists Association is a young non-governmental organization. It was established by the graduates of Economics Faculty of Istanbul University on 8 March 2007. However, the its history dates to a very long time before it had an official character. Activities based on cooperation, solidarity and assistance were started by a group of economics graduates who came together informally at the end of 1980s. This tradition, which gained strength by young graduates, has gained momentum from the beginning of the 2000s. First, the Economists Platform was established, and in 2007, the Istanbul Economists Association in 2007.

Increasing and diversifying activities of the Association have been the main motive behind demands and source for excitement by distinguished academicians, businessmen and bureaucrats of our graduates and students, who work in our universities and in the leading public and private sectors in Turkey.
